I have a MH-26 side delivery hay rake. It was probably made in the mid 1950's. The crank that raises and lowers the rake is a ball screw type and is totally worn out. Does anybody know of someone who makes a replacement? I checked with AGCO and even though it's on their parts list it's not available.

Well, okay. Nobody responded to my question so I guess I'll have to answer it myself. I've found a solution. I took the screw and nut out of a bent trailer jack and took them to a local machinist. He machined down the nut so it'd fit in the crank housing and cut down and machined the end of the screw to match the dimension and threads on the original. This way I could replace the ball screw with a very similar bit of hardware and use the original mounts and crank. Cost was just for his time and effort as I had the old crank in my scrap iron pile. Just goes to show you should never throw anything away.
