On my 61 MF35, on the right side, under the seat, there is the control to raise and lower the hitch arms, along with the draft control.

If I raise the arms all the way up with the tractor running I can't force them back down by hand. However, when I turn the tractor off and come back later, the arms have lowered. When I start the tractor they come right back to where they were before lowering. Is that normal?

i am trying to locate information on a tao/-22 3 bottom disc plow with a 3point hook up. especially a repair manual or a set of specification for this item. i have no idea of the age of said item, could be any thing from a 1950's to a late 70's. it came to me as second hand. any information would be of great help.

Have you checked that the draft control is in the right position. I think I have experienced the same problem on my -35 and it was the draft control lever that was in the wrong position.

From what you say, its like some of the others have said, you have the levers in the wrong position. I have a sheet with the correct instuctions on how to operate the MF Hydraulic system that you have, If you give me an email address I will send it to you. Regards....John

Michael, what position should the draft control be left in? I read somewhere that it should be in the down position unless you are pulling a plow.

Jeff, I just had mine overhauled and until now, mine did the same thing. The pump will hold the arms/implements up as long as the pump is running, but they will bleed down if the pump cylinders need work. Mine would go all the way down in about 30 minutes, now they stay up for 24 hours or more. C. T.

Most of the Masseys I have seen will not hold up a 3pt arm after the pump stops. We have 4 and none will stay up

Thanks CT, I figured that might be the case. Does it make any difference where the draft control levers are put?

How expensive is it to do the overhaul?

Jeff, I am no expert on draft control, just know that unless you are plowing or using an implement that could turn the tractor over, the draft control is not needed. I would not have had mine overhauled if it hadn't quit working. A little bleed down is not going to cause problems when you are using the tractor. It cost about $300 USD. Also, if you are not mechanically challenged like me, you might overhaul it yourself. There is a great VHS tape available on this site. C. T.

Jeff, look on the left on this site (right now, while you are reading my response) and you should see a "Videos" under the heading "Marketplace". C. T.
