I have a 1964 MF 65 diesel that has some power steering problems. The power steering "works," but it doesn't seem to assist as much as it should. If you turn the steering wheel relatively slowly it seems to assist just fine, but when you try turning the steering wheel rapidly it seems like the power assist can't keep up. Is there an adjustment for the amount of assist provided? Is this the sign of a weak pump? The power steering pump seems to leak - I fill the reservoir up on a fairly regular basis, but I can't tell where it's going. Could that be part of the problem? Any help at all would be appreciated!

There IS an adjustment in the front end linkage that controls how far the spool valve moves and thus how much assist is applied. I can't explain it but can mail a copy of the service manual proceedure if you need it. E-mail me and let me know if you want it and give me an address to send it to.
