We're buying a house in NY state, on 8 acres, with a 120 yard paved driveway to snow plow. The driveway is pretty steep (20' gain in about 50 yds) and has a couple of 45-degree bends. The property's back five acres are wooded.
The current owner has a diesel 4WD Massey Ferguson tractor to plow the drive, drag logs from the woods and cut an acre of lawn. The realtor said it's a "model 1020" with a "model 1014" bucket. This is for sale, separate from the house deal. No price provided, yet.
Where can I find market value for this tractor?
Is there an hours meter on the engine I should check?
To a rookie like me, this seems like too large a unit for everything but the snowplowing. Any opinions on suitability to task and what it's worth? Too much for a beginner to learn on?
..... Thanks, Rich S.
