We are still trying to get our big tractor to run reliably. After 3 years we just need a working tractor we can at least mow, rake, and dig fence post holes with with.
Two we are looking at are:

A old MF TO 30 which starts very well and the PTO seems OK but.. it is leaking just about everywhere and cosmeticaly it is pretty rough. I have heard these tractors are prone to crack blocks with very little provocation. Sour grapes?? And a 85 model MF 230 D. I have only seen the diesel in pictures. It looks in good condition and is running. Will this tractor be big enough to pull a 6'tow behind (not 3 point)rotary mower? and a post hole digger??

The books I have been able to find on our MF 65 Gas and F40 are IT books. I got them from the dealers and they were the only books the dealers offered. Ya'll are so right they are very poor and what they do not say would fill volumes!
Where can I get better books? Before you start in on me, I already tried the link at the top of this page and did not find our models!

Hi, You'll find the TO 30 under H.Ferquson. TO 30 is a Harry Ferquson tractor, Read his Bio, Its interesting. I have owned both the TO 20 and the TO 30 for years and still have the TO 20. I feel they are good old tractors. Parts are easy to get. I kept the TO 20 because it was my Father's pride and joy. Far as mowing I use a 5' bushog and no problem at all. I have used it to dig post holes too. A 5' disc is about max for it though, but it does well. Have fun Sivert.
