I have a 44 wide front tractor that I really want to make into a good pulling tractor. I went out and embrassed myself a week ago and need help. What gear should I pull in and how much should I turn it up, weights and where? I bought new tires, but I am going to put the old ones back on. I realize I wasted $600 on tires. Everyone I talked too agrees the older the better. I will be pulling on clay if that matters and in the 5500lb class. Thanks for any help.

well i pull a 44 special. first get your self lighter 5000 is no sweat and if your on clay a good tire with good stiff bar will be ok. air should be at about 11 to 12.5 lbs. get your draw bar as high as the rules will allow 18 or 20 in. for most and in as close to the rear axle as you are allowed most are 24 from center. i pull in 1st. almost all the time. as to weight placement seeing the you have a wide front put it all on the rear. i pull 5000 to 7000 and neaver have more the 100lbs. up front and i have a narrow front and the placement is important 6in. front to rear can make or brake you balance is a must. the best tire size i found is a 14.9x38 also if you have a 44 std. with 30 tires they don't make good pullers
