Finally decieded to improve running condition of my snowplow(tractor!).
Looking for some advice.

Pulled the head off and found a broken valve spring on an exhaust valve.
Exhaust section of the one-piece manifold has some cracking (not too worried about this).

Did some damage to the head gasket pulling the cylinder head off.
Any advice out there on sourcing a valve spring? Head Gasket (Continental F162 engine)
also...any tricks to disassembly of valving?

Also, just curious about this->
were these Continental engines used in any other machinery, cars, trucks, etc...?

I opened my email link so you can respond to me directly if you wish. I've got a spring here that I can mail off to you. The engine is a Continental flathead. The head gasket is a Victor (Victor-Rentz now I think) number 1634. Any jobber supply store can get it for you. This gasket is for all engines in that series of engine block (F400) which would include the 124, 140 and 162 cubic inch versions. Yes, that engine (in one of the sizes mentioned) was used in a ton of stuff like MH tractors, one Case and one Oliver tractor, all kinds of implements and also industrial applications like street sweepers, Lincoln welders, etc. The engine company is now called Wis-Con (merger with Continental and Wisconsin I believe). Original parts through the factor outlets are a bit outrageous in price but you can usually find something around used, at least in these parts. Drop me an email when you get a minute.
