Lifter Arm Problems on an MF245

My buddy has what we think is an MF245 (Ser. # is 9A 44246, 3cyl diesel) There was a shake in the lifter arms recently and now there is no lift in the lifter arms at all. Any ideas on some troubleshooting steps would be greatly appreciated. Additionally, the position control would not raise the arms without the draft control lever back max (that is towards the rear of the tractor). The PTO functions independently and is still working fine.

Also, there is a pedal below the lifter response adjustment that we are not sure what it is for. Any ideas?

The Pedal is a differential lock that stops the wheel from spanning independently If the lift will work with a light load but not a heavy one it is probably a weak master control spring. If it does not lift at all it could be a plugged filter or a leak in the system someplace If I can be of further help Email me

Big Dean, Thanks for the input. After some serial number investigation, I'm thinking that it is probably a '68 MF135.

The lifter arms won't lift at all, not even with no load on. Where would I find the filter to clean out? are there more than one? ANy input is appreciated. Thanks,

Also, I read on your site to try and move the arms inside the access panel to try and unstick the control valve. I'll give that a try as well. Thanks,

Mark

To access the hydraulic filter you remove the access plate with the pto lever in it. The filter is just behind that plate it is about 2'' in diameter it should have a piece of safety wire on it to keep it from unscrewing. it is a screen type that can usually be wash out & reused. One thing to check is the PTO Clutch put the PTO in gear & try raise the lift if the pto stops turning you have a bad PTO disc. Email me if I can be of further help.
