i had figured that the stuff that i had came oof of a 44s,and was/willl be looking for the rest to finish the unit off. the serail number of the tractor is 44gisf 43582 i think that, that makes it a late 52 modle. i do have a specal owners manual that shows what i figure would be parts that i would be able to put on to my 44 at this time. if it is not posible to do that well than i geuss i have a few extra parts.

Steven, you will be chasing some missing parts. The
Special used two different cylinders, neither were
the 44 Depth-o-Matic one. Same issue on seat parts
pre-#56601 Specials had a lighter cast front base
for the seat assembly. Attempting to bolt all the Special parts on to your 40K 44 Standard, is a lot of busy work, little gain. How many miles to Chana,IL? "Bob" had a couple 44 RC's,parts-type.
One was a 40K, w/stuck engine, sheet metal, no rear wheels. Standards & H's waste your time.

not to argue here but i have a massey harris 44 owners manual in front of me that i bought off ebay a few days back now. well any way it shows that the specail has a depth o matic on it, it is mounted onto the deck plate that i have but it shows a hyrdaalic manifold that is incorperated with the pto lever houseing. along with the owners manual there was the engine inspection sheet that came with it. the date on the sheet 2-12-54. there was the evvalope that it all came in when the tractor that it came with was bought from the dealership. and there is a parts book with it too. i figure that this is most liky one of the first owners manuals made so that might be why it still have the depth o matic in the book. must have had extras to go on after the 44 was done away with.

i am not sure were chana ,is but i am abought two hours north of chicago. it would look like that if i was to chase after the rest of the parts needed i would have heck of a task on my hands. i am not sure that i will contiue down that path. i might get the 44std up and runing pood, maybe slap on a good coat of paint and put her up for sale. i am sure that there is enough interest in them that i would be able to seel it and have money to find a good specail. just how hard is it to bolt up the rear end off a 333 to a specail? it dont seem like it would take to much realy.

Just looked at my tattered '98 States Atlas, Chana
appears about 25 miles directly south,of Rockford.
I doubt Bob has a clue of a 40K, he wanted $200.
for the pair of 44's. The rear wheels were a fresh
pull, for a hundred, you'd be golden. Steven, it's
not my iron, but I crossed the availability. Best
to climb off the Standard, work on a RC with hubs
waiting for universal 9 bolt rims. Triples for
tranny cases? Must be gas 3's. The D's got ripped
apart by torque. You have to open the master gear cover, check teeth, rounded wear, pinion, etc. You
are moving around. I can try to get the # for Bob
to you, if you'd make that run. Yes, with a few
retro's the Special mate would go. You lose on
drive train strength, but get the dropped PTO,
simplified Hitch-All, ten speed. Next?

next eh, ok
i have been amassed at how much it is that you know on the massey harris tractors here. even the tractors that you are not fond of you still are an expert in my eys any way on the massey harris tracotors. there is not a sole here that can match what you have. so how did you come upon this great welth pool of vaste knowage?? and yes i i would like the # for bob. i think that you might be on to something it is time to dump out the standard. but i would like to be able to keep the wide from end because of are hills, might have to start looking for a nice HA 44s with the i beam front. i like the looks of that and with the crown fenders too maybe.

Planted that number in your finally tore down post
sure you can find it quicker that way. A crank can run a quick hundred, since the owner has costs
Grabbing a stuck 40K for even money may supply all
the needed parts, since the rings, pistons, sleeves, are the risk items there. You have books,
great. No Specials have 'Basic' Depth-o-Matic, I
dug out a Special Manual found the 2 way follow up
DOM, near the back, it's a different set-up. 33's
had DOM, check you I&T Manual,P53. Different cyl.,
valve, mount bracket, capacity. Better to chase Bob
down, before outlay on parts you can carry away. A
40K RC w/o rears 'might' serve you RC direction. On
the fixed 'wide' standard, you can bridge a spacer,to lift on RC, also with two axles, make one wider drilling two 3/4" holes in the cast.
