I bought a 44 MH to pull, took it to a mechanic, to do a little work. It was supposed to be done in June. All that is done now is the head. I am considering bringing it home. My neighbor said he could help me get it back together. We dont really know what we need to do (new to MH), to get a little more horse power with out spending major money. I just need a little advice to get a little more HP. thanks for any help.

Massey hariis is not my expertise soooo, i would
just go with an over bore kit, mill the head, and
dyno tune the carb...gotta a guy around here that
pulls one...by no means the strongest, but his is
pretty consistently in the top 3

i pull a 44 special that is all stock other then the head is milled 85 thousands and a friend pulls a 44 that is all stock and we are in the top 3 90% of the time we pull in 5000,5500,6000,6500,and 7000 just get your draw bar set and the balance right and tires and air right and she will pull

i would go with a 444 to get the lower range gears up hear the 44 is to high geared and runs out of power first so does allis wd and some molines as for the mechenic sounds typical cann him before i beffed the engine up i would start at the bottum end and work up an over bore kit will help but alot will be gained with a pulling cam and valve work

the cheapest place that i have found is right here on ytmag. i have heard good and bad things abought the dealer on ytmag. you might want to post on all the boards here abought geting parts from that dealer as there might be someone out there that can tell you abought where they lack. all places lack somethings. it is what the lack is the difference, let it be the lack of will to mistreat or the lack of respect for a customer. just my $.02

What kind of horsepower should a little head work gain you. Most of our tracks are HP tracks.
