on my 52 massey harris 44 there is a block heater on it, the kind that circulates the coolent
what i want to know is, was it a massey harris item? was it aftermarket. i am going to swap motors on my 44 soon and would like ot know if it would be a worth while thing to keep, it gets cold in wisconsin in winter. but instead of going down the front of the block, the pipe goes down the side where the hydralic pump would go if i had it on. so now i dont know if i want to put on the hydraulic pump or the heater when i install the new engine. also was there a different pump location? maybe in the rear end of the tractor? when i bought the tractor it came with a different seat option with a hyrdaulic controler and a piston under that seat, also there is a different transmition plate that has a vent cap on it. i know that some of the latter tractors had the hydraulis and the tranny tied in as one system. did the 44? and if so where do i get a pump for that?

Steven, the coolant heater became popular in the 60's, doubt any gas 44's out of Racine had one.
Using the Diesel style hydraulic pump, would put
the pump forward of the housing, possibly leaving
room for your heater tube assembly. Expensive pump, unless you know of a parked blown Diesel.
Without full access to the parts, for short money,
you may discover you need to change the cam gear,
to use the Diesel pump, or some other conflict. It
may work. Those seat/vent parts are 44 Special, do
not require pump change, just some drill/tap to
secure major cast bracket(2 styles). The hydraulic
manifold is unique, fits a Special, maybe a 40K...
