Hey all,
My neighbor came over yesterday and wants me to work on his 1085 MF--I have never worked on one before, but thought I would give it a try. Right where the right rear axle bolts up to the rear end there is a pretty good leak(was dripping fluid just setting there). What I wanted to know is how much of a job am I getting myself into? Also, how long should this take? Looks like it has wet brakes, and may have to replace them also while I am in there. Anyway, thanks for any help.

It usually took me about 4 to 6 hours per side on the platform tractors a little long with a cab. The worse part is handling the tire & wheel especially if they have fluid in the tires.Email me if I can be of further help

Thank you, Big Dean! I checked out your website--I like it! Most other mechanics I know don't like to give out many tips--they are else too busy or too stingy. I am sure I will probably have to email you for some other advice, but until then, thanks. Oh yeah, found out that my neighbor even has the service manual for this tractor and is going to bring it over for me to look at and make sure I even want to do this--kinda nice.:)

I believe those are dry brakes, my father had a couple 1085's and they were dry. Hope they are not oil soaked.
