i have fixed the motor in my 44 today, i stoping in to a farm because i seen alot of old massey tractors siting out by the road and was thinking agin of buying one. well i talked to the guy and looked at teh 3 44s he had, one he called a super??? i dont know why i thought that he ment special but insisted on it being a super. the other two were just 44's all were nice looking and all were free spining, he was sure that all ran. but he also had a engine that he was going to put into a 44. i offered him $100 for it. by the timewe were abought to leave he asked if i wanted that engine for fifty. i told him that i had offeredhim $100 and he told mewe would split the difference. i am gerting it for $75. the only thing wrong with it was that the govt had failed and it needed a new one. i figure i will throw that in the 44 and take the old gov and throw that in the new engine. i also know what is missing from the brakes now, the guy took the plate that holds the brake rod in place that would be why i dont have brakes on either side that are for @$@#. i will be fixing the brakes and throwing in a new motor. after that i will have a good work horse!!!! and i will have a motor to rebuilt at my time and will throw that in the 44 when it is done and find a 44Sp needing a motor some day!

The only super was a 101, a 44G Special RC would
have an engine S/N beginning with H277, and a gated plate bolted over the shift lever boot. If
you are going back for the engine, it's always free to take a look. The 'orphan' engine is a 'good runner'? Wise idea to drop the pan, check those main bearings, crank, before installing.
Hope it's a strong H260. Good luck.
