Does anybody know if a head gasket is still available for a 55 diesel with a JD382 engine? Thank you.

Shannon,
What did NAPA charge you for complete 44 engine
gaskets? Did they sell you a rear main seal with it? Seems suppliers have 'more' & 'less' complete
gasket sets. The rear main can run $65 to $85,
depending on early or later style. Thanks

paid 52 bucks for valve cover gasket, water pump gasket, timing cover gasket, oil pan gasket ,and head gasket... i think thats a reasonable pricing but they didnt have main crankshaft seal, which i brought one from fred wolf.. napa has some of this and that but not whole thing but they did have pin and bushing for the h260 im gonna have to go back sometime again and find what they really have and dont have... at least it was right next to my home... u think i paid a fair pricing on that gaskets package?

To give you an honest answer, I'd have to count the Fels-Pro, NOS. They came with the entire rear
main pieces, for '52 & earlier, or later 260/277.
Got to be 30 plus pieces, at $130.00. Walts Tractor Parts, Mexico,Missouri, has the rear main
but Walt doesn't state what 44's it fits. You
have teardown, examine, talk with Walt. He's toll
free, but calls you at night. Restock charge(20%?)
if you order the wrong part-all mail order. What
was the rear main, 5 piece? Outlay? I wish there
were more Fels-Pro, nice package deal. NAPA seems
confused by the word "Harris". I try to encourage
them, "the GOOD tractors." Brad posted he's onto
a O-H vendor in Michigan, he always gets bargains.

the gaskets i got were made by victor reinz.. never heard them.. so i paid 50 something bucks and the rear main crank seal from fred wolfe for 35 bucks so all together around 80-90 bucks.. that ll fix all leaks i have for good.. so i think thats pretty good pricing isnt it? oil pan leaking like crazy, same thing with rear main crankshaft seal, valve cover is abit leaking thats pretty much all i have.. just fixed 2 rear seal where the brake drums are.. fixed those and just filled and topped out.. runs like a heaven.. only problem i have is once awhile clutch wont disgage and ending up grinding up the gears ouucchh.. not sure what im supposed to do about that one... but other than that it runs really good..

Finding the parts has become more time consuming
than installing. Since you got the most important
seals for your tractor, good. If the clutch rarely
disengages, probably the disc was replaced, with-
out touching the pressure plate. They don't mate
well. You'd have to slip the clutch often to create more distance. Where were the reinz seals
made? We need a Reference Board for any MH parts
being offered. How many people searching for a
333G carburetor kit, know to ask for a MF150 kit?
They pay three times the price. Good luck, Guy!

yes it takes time and turning rocks over... but it wasnt too bad ever since i got this mh 44 it was nothing but needing seals... found a seal and bearing company next to my worksite.. i was real happy they had just about everything but didnt ask if they have seal for main crankshaft seal..and napa store was pretty close to mine almost has all gaskets for mh 44's but i dont know if they have for others mh's... yes i sure did see the massey boards.. hard to find some parts... i get lucky alot of times... im planning to write all the stores that has some parts for mh 44's so there ll be like 6 different stores that a must parts that we needed... the thing is i saw a competely kit rebuilding for mh 44 4 cylinder engine for around 1200 bucks... abit pricey that would be my last resort if i need to buy it .. i ll have to get that kit from this website... wish there was a store that has competely stock for massey harris tractors... they seemed to be pretty good ones! it was my frist tractor i had.. im pretty much on limit budget.. new house , new car, new wife .. oh baby on the way soon ha... so i pretty much cant spend lots of money on new tractor for my big yard.. so thats how i ended up buying this mh 44.. i was pretty happy with it.. didnt give me any trouble and did the job better than i thought ... really reliable...

Once you've had a 44 in some version, how would you ever replace it? Heard several remarks on how the guy 'traded the wrong tractor', or stating they had a 444, and traded it for something forgetable. Been a few 44 skeletons on e bay that were 'pass', one appeared to be a '52(bad pics). Chana, Il. $200.(a pair) # was 815-732-6529. Worth an hour drive to check out, not my backyard so my loss. Good to keep those parts vendors info to post for someone else, in the soup.
