What is a Massy Ferguson 40? Is it a utility? How big is it compared to a MF35? What's the HP?
Does it have a 3pt hitch and live hydraulics (ie, do you have to have the PTO running to use the 3pt lift?). I also have the same questions for a Massy Ferguson 50.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!
Danny

Hi Danny...

The F40 was in the experiment stage and on the drawing boards and about ready for production when Harry Ferguson merged with Massey-Harris. After the merger the company was the new Massey-Harris-Ferguson Company and Harry was the Chairman of the Board. The new M-H-F Company decided to maintain the two lines so they made two models of the same tractor... the Ferguson F40 and the M-H 50. The new 50 had the then curent style M-H hood and grille.

Both had the dual clutch (live PTO and hydraulics) and the other features including the engine of the TO35 Deluxe. The F40 came in three models... the standard (like the 35) and three high clearence models... a wide front end... a tricycle model with two front wheel styles... a single front wheel and other one had two front wheels.
