What is correct way and how do i go about adjusting the marvel- schebler carb. It is a TSX 683. I am having trouble getting idle speed adjusted and the main jet adjusted. If any one can E-mail me some pointers it would be appreciated. Or give me a site i can go to Thanks

Larry, Of course the manual will be a great help but I would like to offer you some additional info. on this operation.

I had to clean mine twice in a row before it ran as per specs. You should leave it totally dissassembled in a bowl of carb cleaner overnight. Then the tricky part is to air blow the solvent out without blocking the very small orifices in the carb body. It is very easy to miss a speck of dirt leaving the work all for naught.
Your float should close the needle when parallel to the upper body hence when the bowl is full the needle closes.
Lastly pay particular attention for wear to the butterfly throttle shaft. This would let the carb suck air if the brass shaft is worn out. I used a small washer shape gasket to seal it properly on the outside of the carb body.
I hope you have new gaskets for doing this.
I forgot the needles adjustment turns but I think it is 21/2 out from close on the main and 11/2 on small but I could be wrong.

Good Luck

I have a service manual for Marvel-Schebler TSX carbureters, send me your mailing address and I will mail you a copy. The manual spells it carbereters, not carburetors!
