Are these good tractors? We used to farm with one 15 years ago and liked it. Now looking to buy. Found 1 but has steering problems (nothing happens cold and very little when hot). Other than that it is in good condition. What should I look for etc. Thanks for any help!

Dan Look at the rear planitary gear seals for oil leakage. I have ran/owned a 1080,1130,1155 and each have their good and bad points. email me if you have a specific question. Good Luck

Hello,
I'm thinking of buying one. The motor and hydraulics seem to be ok, but there is a lot of noise from the gearbox, when I'm reversing. It sounds like the oil-level is too low. Is this normal? Should I expect costly repair?

I had both a 1080 and a 1130.The 1080 is a good tractor but the 1100 series tractor are a lot nicer to use. They have hydraulic brakes, hydrostic steering, and superior three point hitch and remotes.

Dan,I happen to have a 1080.It have used it to pull a 5 bottom plow,15 foot batwing mower, and a 2 row corn chopper. The tractor is rugged and reliable if maintained properly. It is comparable to my neighbor's 1100.The steering and the lift are potential trouble spots though. There is a valve underneath the seat that sticks and the lift will not raise. However, the valve is easily unstuck and is no problem if the tractor is used frequently.

Neighbor had one. It was a dog compared to a 1100 pulling. My brother had a used 1100, very expensive parts.
