Recently bought a 925, have mowed about 25-30 acres and broke 2 belts, the drive belts $140 bucks a pop. I have eyeballed it running, and stopped and everything appears to be running true and straight. Both belts have started by working in (to the mower) and skinning the groove belts off then the whole thing breaks. I don't have a manual yet can anyone suggest anything to try or check. Thanks.

I am running it on a 4020, the belt always brakes will running at operating speed with no binding or anything, it works in and skins off the groove belts, it will run then eventually breaks.

ok then check that the rolls are running close to gether when the machine is down in the cutting position because when you raise it the roll open up to help unplug it. they might not be going back to the closed position and if one end is hanging up then your pullies will be at a angle. i worked for a mf dealer years ago and we had 5 or 6 725 and 925 out with no trouble with them they were very good . what state you in if in wi. and close to me i would take a look at it

I live in Indiana, might be a little far to run down and have a look at. Thanks for the offer. How tight should the belt be when installed, it seems like it had about 1/2 to 1/4 inch of movement. Not really slopy slack but you can move it easy enough. Should I really crank the adjustment on the idler roller to make it real tight? I really like the machine, but $140.49 every 25 acres or so just is not going to cut it.

from what i recall it's got to be real tight. we still have a 925 that we use on over 100 acres a year. check your machine weight when it"s down in the cutting position you should be able to lift it with one hand one end at a time it should floot on the ground and leave no marks. i sure wish i could help you more other then checking all the bearings and all alinment's of the gear box, pullies and tightner. i'll beat it's something simple that's wrong .good luck
