Located in western PA and have purchased MF40.Hoe & Loader condition good. Has bad rap in motor but carries good oil pressure. Three clyinder Perkins deisel. Would this be a complete over-haul and about how expensive would it be?

Have you started your repair of the engine knock yet?
I also have an MF40, it had a rod knock in it. I had the engine completly overhauled, including a new crankshaft (from England -- took 6 weeks to ship). It did have a bad oild pump.

Caution -- be sure to diagnose the "rap" before tearing it apart. My tractor still has another knock/rap. It comes from the hydralic pump in front of the motor. I had a good mechanic check it out. He suggested doing nothing.

Let me know if you have other questions. Maybe I can help. Good Luck,

If your going to get into it, you might as well do it all. Then you know what you have when your done. Lots of aftermarket parts available.
