On my TO20 the engine runs for 90 seconds then stalls out. It will not start again. If I wait 15 minutes it starts again with no problem but once again stalls out after 90 seconds (under load or no-load). Any ideas.

Could be electrical or fuel. If electrical, most likely either condensor or coil. Test for blue spark at plug when trying to start to see if it is electrical. If not electrical, you probably have partially blocked fuel line. Test by removing line at carb and drain for 30 sec. or so into clean bucket. It should flow steady and full like a man urinating after two beers. If it dribbles, that explains why it will start after it has time to fill carb float bowl, but won't keep running. If it has good spark and good fuel flow to the carb, it most likely is either the filter at the elbow where the line enters the carb or the carb float, and if the latter you will need to go into the carb, not a hard job.

Phil (VA) got it right! I took the fuel line from the carb and the fuel ran steady and true indefinately. Then I removed the elbow joint and blew some air through it (don't you just love the taste of gas!) and something popped out, it went on the floor so I didn't see what it was but it looked like a pieve of leaf or something. Anyway, the tractor fired up and ran smooth. Many thanks!

Thanks, I will try that....and I get to drink two beers to establish the correct flow rate, sounds like fun.

Hi

I have a TEA 20 1949 vintage I think
Mine used to cut out when hot. It was because not enough fuel was getting into the carb and what was was evaporating. Found my cutoff valve wasnt working so bypassed it and put manual tap on fuel line and have no more problem. (with the fuel line that is). It overheated the other day so I have just replaced all the hoses . Was going to replace the thermostate but couldnt get the bolts undone and it doesnt feel though it has one so decided to leave alone. Dont fix whats not broken.

I have a TO20 that I can't get started. It was running fine and then it started running rough and died, I have changed plugs, coil, condensor, and points. The fuel line is clear cleand carb. I think maybe it is out of time..... ....any suggestion would be appreciatated.
