Just bought a MF50, serial number indicates a '58 model. It is in pretty good shape, original paint is faded but only an occasional rust speck. Everything works and it doesn't smoke beyond a puff of black when started cold. It is a one owner and I think it was the pet tractor for the old farmer's many daughters for the last 25 years. I did find a couple of things I need advice on.The steering made a loud skreek when turned. I greased everything but it made no difference. When I checked the steering tower oil I found what seemed to be from the color, viscosity and smell, road tar. I filled it with 80/90 gear oil. When I take the cover off the right side, what should I check besides getting that old crud out? When I press the clutch down, the two stage releases just like it is supposed to, but if I press it all the way down, I get a rubbing grinding noise, not too loud. Do I need to adjust something? I'll be getting the shop and parts manual, but just havn't got a round tuit yet. Thanks!!
