Has anyone come up with or know of a Hyd Brake system for converting a TO-20 to something that resembles brakes. Thanks Dave

Ummm, I noticed your last post, and I agree the factory brakes should be fine....Then you mentioned a bush hog.....I really hope you have an over running clutch installed between the tractor PTO and the hog shaft....You do have on right??? If you do not know what this is, reply back here....

AP I do have a clutch on the PTO output shaft. I learned about that some time ago. Thanks for the heads up though. Dave

if they are set up correctly they should work pretty well the drums and shoes usually get rear end fluid on them and cause poor braking also the linkages get some wear etc I have the shop manual if you need one let me know

Thanks Rod, It just seems like I have to put a lot of pressure on the pedal to get this baby to stop and if I have anything on the back end (brush hog)stopping is a chore to say the least

I've had some marginal brakes on various tractors and you can tolerate that if your ground is mostly level and you aren't doing certain things like loading it on a steep trailer, etc. But when correct, the brakes should stop the tractor dead when you are backing it down a trailer ramp, before you hit the bottom. Now, bear in mind they aren't hydraulic, so it does take more pedal pressure than in a car, but they should work that good if they are correct.

are they set up correctly I can scan and send you the adjustment procedure more likely there is wear in the drum, shoes and or the linkage I had my TEA 20 shoes relined fixed the leaking seals and cleaned brake drum out with brake cleaner and you could actually lock up the wheels if you jammed the brake on hard. leaking wheel seals are most common problem if you get to much fluid in rear end it can slop out the axle trumpet and leak by seal to the shoes and presto no brakes
