Just recentley when I push the gear stick all the way into low range it wont engage.
if I pull it back a tiny bit it engages low range.
It has allso started jumping out of low range when releasing the clutch!
High range works normal still!

Am I looking at serious problems?

Cheers from

We have purchased an Industrial MF 50B Backhoe and whilst the engine runs we can't move her until the hydraulics are operational. First a new pump was purchased, however, the drive shaft was seen to have very little of the spline left. We know the shaft has a left hand thread at the other end. What we now face is a problem removing the shaft. Even after welding an extension onto the shaft in order to clear the housing and increase our leverage, the shaft seems to twist with tension and is perhaps winding up the rubber in the harmonic balancer. We seek advice as to removing this shaft????
Cheers!!!

The high & low range on those transmission is a planetary that bolts onto the back of the transmission it has a ring that has splines inside & knurl on the outside it is pressed in to the planetary hub. These will sometimes work out. That is usually what causes the problem you are having. I have pictures showing how to repair it If you want to email me I send them to you
