We have the above without hydraulics. I would like to drive a 7 g.p.m pump off crankshaft pulley crank ratchet hub. I would like to mount outside and make a drive shaft. Any proven ideas would be very welcome.

I bought a 101 Junior once that someone had done that exact same thing (same engine actually, the 4 cylinder flathead Continental). On mine, the fellow who did it connected the hydraulic pump shaft to the crankshaft nut. Problem is with doing it that way is the fact that the crank nut is a regular right hand thread and when the hydraulics are engaged it tends to back off the nut. Even if the nut is pinned to the crank it can do damage to the crank. Other guys attatch a chain coupling of some type to the pulley. Same result only it ends up playing havoc with the key/keyway between the crankshaft front shaft and the pulley. In my opinion, not a great way to do it (although it is done). If that thread were left hand then the nut would be tightening instead of loosening and that would be better. I'd hook up a pump to the belt pulley spline or the PTO spline (if you have those) but then you don't have "live" hydraulics. Another option is to find a factory pump for that engine which mounts opposite the governor and is driven by the same gear. Massey swathers from the early 60's had those pumps on them (the governor was on the front of that same hookup area).

Best proven idea would be find a parked 30 from
1950-52, remove the central hydraulics. You get
everything, if you're first to pull the hydraulics. Simple valve to install new seals,
new hoses, mount the front oil tank, should prove
your choice correct. Good luck.
