A tractor that was donated to our Ministry is running rough. I just rebuilt the carburetor, replace plugs, points, condenser, rotor cap, and distributor cap. It starts relativly easy, needing to choke it. Without any load (i.e. PTO engaged), it seems to run fairly smooth, but I have to pull the choke all the way out. With full throttle, no choke, PTO engaged, it runs very rough, backfiring and wanting to bog down when brush-hog gets into high grass. It runs a whole lot smoother with choke pulled out. I also noticed that I have to push the choke in a little and play with it to get the smoothest operation. I pulled the plugs and number 1 was really carbined badly, but no oil. The other 3 were moderately carbined. Can you please help me? Also, can you point me to a sight that has diagrams, pictures, and troubleshooting guides? Thanks!

Carberator flange maybe sucking air or intake manifold gasket leaking. Seems to be burning to lean, break carberator open check gaskets. Hold straight edge on mating parts, see if they are distorted. Maybe can dress them down with flat file. Uncle Ray

I have been having a similar problem with my MF50, Z134 gas engine. After a lot of work and head scratching it turned out to be fuel supply. The glass bowl filter had become clogged with debis from inside the tank. Engine ran fine with no load but could not get enough gas when asked to really work. I replaced the whole system with a canister filter and a shut-off valve from NAPA. Now I can see if the carb is getting gas. Good luck.
