I have a 1949? 1950? massey harris 22, usualy starts pretty good but this last winter she started very hard and now in the summer it isnt any better, it WILL not start with the choke on, it only will start if you crank on it for a good minute or 2 until the battery is almost dead and you need the throttle wide open and it spits and sputters for a minute or two until it runs right, after that it runs like a dream, good power and everything, if the engine has been run in the last hour or so, it starts easily but not if it sits over night, only reads 20 on the oil guage is that enough? she does use oil, but it is 50 years old, this tractor is used almost everyday so I would like it to start easily

Twenty pounds of oil pressure is fine on those Continental flathead 4 cylinders. The Continental manual says 20-30 pounds is good and never operate the tractor if it has less than 7 pounds at idle.

I think that your carburetor is float is not shutting off properly thus flooding the carb and engine with excess fuel. To be sure. Let the tractor sit overnight and in the morning remove the intake hose from the carb. If there is fuel in the hose and carb, then your float or needle and seat need to be fixed or replaced.
