Were any ferguson 35 tractors painted red,or just
Massey ferguson 35 tractors? A massey 35 is going
to sell at an estate sale next week. The lawyer
running the sale won't let me look till sale day.
I snuck over and looked in the garage window today,it looks really nice, red looks original,
but has a green ferguson emblem on the front,
2 chrome buttons to open the hood center.I was
told it wasn't a MF 35 because of the emblem,
but it sure looks original.I was burnt once
before by an old TO painted to look like a 35.
Want to make sure this time.Thanks.

Ferguson and Massey Harris came to an end in December 1957 when Massey Ferguson came into existance. The Ferguson 35 became the MF 35 with red and grey paintwork, and continued, in UK at least, with the two button access flap on the bonnet up to 1958. There are instances of early MF tractors having left the UK factory with ferguson badges as they used up the last of the supplies ( Harry F was well known for being frugal with money )
I would imagine the ame would have applied in USA.
The best thing to do is check out serial Nos on this site of first MF 35's and go to sale armed with them and chech with tractor serial No

For two years 1958 and 1959 the Ferguson TO35 was painted red over flint metallic grey. These were transition years. I even have a TO35 with the MF hood ornament on the front but it is definetly a TO35 The tractor that you are looking at is definetly not original. The two button hood was used through 57 from what I can tell and was never used on a red tractor. Under that paint you will most likely fine some beige or grey and under the flint metallic grey you will find some metallic green.
