Does anybody have any good sources for a power steering hydraulic line for a MF 165. I have checked a few of the online parts places, but no lines. Do you think taking the old line to the local auto parts store (that makes hydraulic lines) would work OK ? Part of the line is rigid tubing with some special (but possibly unneeded) bends. Would a all-flexible line work ? Anything special I shoudl tell these guys about the line/system. I am new to hydraulics, having just purchased this 165, I have had an 8N for 4 years. The 165 is a beast to drive without the power steering.

It was the return line leaking, so I ended up putting a piece of rubber hose over the leak and clamping both sides. $5 fix and it works. I tried three local shops and they either did not make hoses or did not have the right connector for the pump. I almost used a piece of brake line and compression fittings to replace the flexible but leaking section of original line. I found out from some friends, DO NOT TELL THEM IT IS A POWER STEERING HOSE, call it a hydraulic hose for the tractor. Seems that some national auto parts chains will not custom make power steering lines because of liabaility issues, but they will make you a hydaulic hose.

Yes! Taking your old lines to a local shop works too. We have done that before with our 165.

My 165 power steering hose busted and I took it to a local hydraulic shop. We used the original ends with the bends and made a new rubber section for the middle and put it all together with compression fittings. When I got home I realized that the same thing had been done with the other line. good luck works great
