I have a '51 pony with no amps showing on the ammeter.
I ahd the 6v generator cutout switch replaced, but it didn't help.

Any ideas?

We have a 47? pony with a three brush generator. It had no amps. We replaced the three postion light/charge switch with a dpdt switch because the original equipment was not available. The old switch was badly rusted. We moved the resistor onto the generator and still no amps. It turned out to be a sticky cut out switch. The cutout switch is the little box on the generator. We pulled off the cover cleaned out the coccoon and it works fine now.

Jump the cutout with a chunk of wire while it's running. If it still doesn't charge it's the generator, or the switch that supplies the field . Does the switch supply power to the field? if not jump it to the battery. If still no charge the problem is likely in the generator.
