I have a 1973 MF20 (industrial) 3 cyl gas tractor. It will be running fine and all of a sudden it backfires and loses all power. It then will only run if the choke is pulled all the way out and the throttle is completely off. It limps along in 1st gear, lo range only. If I attempt to give it any gas, the motor dies. Sometimes if I shut it off, when I restart it, it runs fine. Other times it continues to run only with no gas and the choke pulled all the way out. Anyone out there haaving a similar problem? How about a solution. By the way, the carb has an electric sensor of some sort. My 35 gas doesn't have this type of carburetor and doesn't have this type of problem.

Tg Not sure what your problem is, tho it sounds like there is a problem with the fuel system. Check your filters and fuel lines first. That "electric sensor" on your carb is an electric fuel shut off valve. When the ignition is turn off the valve is deinergised which in turn shuts off the flow of gas.
