On my MF50 the hydraulics have started locking in the up position. It doesn't do it all the time but once it does I have to relieve the pressure to get it to go back down. Does anybody have any idea what might be causing this?

Thanks Kris

On this site there are videos available that deal with the MF 50. I own a 50 and bought the video on rebuilding the hydraulic system ( I also got the one on engine rebuilding.) I really recommend them as they deal specifically with this tractor and do a good job of it. On this specific problem I concur with the previous advice about the spool problem but as the video explains: don't leap to the more complex analysis until you have ruled out the simpler ones. Additionally, if you are having this kind of a problem your system probably will benefit from a refurbishing in other elements and the video will get you through that too. Good luck.

Sounds like a spool valve problem. Clean and inspect valve for burrs. Loosen a hose get a sample to see how much hose residue and dirt is in the system; clean suction screen and replace filter; new fluid in system. Make sure there is not a machanical bind in the loader itself. good luck
