I am thinking about purchasing a set of Massey Ferguson 3pt. hitch disk harrows and am trying to find more information. They appear to be in good shape and the guy is asking $500 for them. I am interested in finding out: what model they are, how much they weigh, and how they might compare to a new set of disks. A photograph of them is listed in the implement photos section of this WWW site. Link Thanks

Pretty sick, asking about something for a JD tractor here, don't ya think ???..... ..... ..... ..(-:

I saw an MF disk just like that one go for $500 at an auction last year, so don't pass it up. They're pretty rare around here.

We always used a 7' Oliver 3-point disk on our TO35, and I thought it worked fine. Was maybe a bit heavy, but not bad. You can always carry it a bit if you get in tough going. Or have an MF tractor pull it for you..... ..... (-:

If you don't end up buying it, how about posting here about it so someone else can have a chance at it?

As far as weight - I'd guess around 300 or400 pounds.

They look Okay, but what type of tractor are you using? I wouldn't exceed 5' on a 35, and you can buy a new 5' disk for under $500.00. But from the picture, it looks like a stout set, so they may be worth it. Good Luck.

I would be using them on a John Deere 1020 - which has something like 32 horsepower at the drawbar (when new). I am kinda wondering if the disks are going to be too much for the tractor to handle - any thoughts?

The MF 35 has about 35 HP. I used to pull a 6' disc, and it did okay, but the 5' did better, plus I could pass through just about any space I could get the tractor through. (Long story) But if your JD has 32HP, I think you'll be fine. I have a friend with a Ford 1700 (25hp) and he can pull 5'.... works hard, but it gets done. So you should be okay.
