I have a '49 Pony that when I got it the six volt battery was negative ground, is this correct? It runs good, little tough starting and doesn't charge well. Should I change it to positive ground or leave as is?
Thanks

If you ever need to replace the battery, try putting an 8-Volt battery in. It will have a lot more pop and no other changes required.

If it is the original 6V wiring system then it should be positive ground. What happens to the ammeter reading when you start it? If it shows a charge when starting then things are backwards wither at the ammeter or the battery hookup.

another clue as to how it is wired would be at the coil. If it wired positive ground, as it was originally, the "hot" side of the coil, coming from the ign switch, whould be at the negative post of the coil, and the positive post would be the side going to the distributor.....
