What type of P/S fluid would you recomend for a Massey Ferguson 245. I have a foaming problem. My local dealer told me to put tractor hydraulic fluid in the reservoir. But after 3 drain and fills it still foams.
Thanks

Same thing you use in the rear end, Permatran III.

Here's Big Deans e-mail for MF 245 power steering blues. PS.. Thanks Again Big Dean

Have you bled all the air out of the system The dealer was right the same oil that is used in the Trans/Hyd Permatran 3 is what is used in the power steering on an MF245. if it is a diesel you fill it with the engine running & turn the wheels from stop to stop in both direction with the fill plug out till you have all the air bubble worked out. If your system has a lot of air in it you may have to refill the pump reservoir a few time as you work the air out. I have never figured out why they don't till you to do this in either the service or the operators manual. As a Massey Ferguson mechanic for 27 years I have fix many steering problems doing this on the diesel tractors. What ever you do don't use Dextron ATF in that system Hope this helps you.
