I posted before but am still trying to identify tractor. It has the look of the MF 65 but has MHF on the cast iron below the steering wheel. It is a four cylnder diesel and has power steering (unit in front of rediator). It also has the spin out type 38" rims. It has the MF emblem on the nose and has a slit on top front of the hood. The tractor has had three colors of paint on it, top coat beige, second coat red and the bottom coat is yellow (which I believe would make it an industrial?. Any help?

I would think you might have a row crop version of the Massey with the 38" inch wheels

Hi Garry
Bearing in mind that the tractor is 45 years old, give or take a few, the body panels might not be the original, especially if they have been painted 3 different colours. The best test would be the chassis, which I believe carried the MHF stamp from the date the two companies mereged ( Ferguson and Massey Harris ) but carried on with their own product lines.
If it is a MF65 it will have a PERKINS 4 cylinder desiel engine, with the name on a plate on the side of the engine. If it is an industrial it would probably have heavy duty front axle, wheel centers, and hydraulic brakes.
There should be a metal plate rivited to the dash below the steering wheel which will tell if it is a MF or Massey Harris.
Hope this helps Hamish

I have a 1958 MF-65 with the MHF in the casting. So chances are that is what you're looking at.

I've been told I have a MF backhoe with a 4 cyl perkins diesel. How do I determine if that's so? how about the model? year? brian
