Just wanted to ask for a little clarification on converting the old cannister type oil filter to an easier-to-use spin on oil filter on a Perkins A3-152. The tractor is a 1962 MF FE 35 that I bought last December and I am just starting to do some work on it.
I called two different dealers in Ontario this morning for price and availability of the oil filter conversion head - part # seen on a few postings on this site was 741 922 M1 at a suggested price of under $20 US.
One dealer quoted part # 741 922 M1 at a price of $59.10 Cdn (about $40 US) and did not have one in stock. Another dealer quoted Part # 741 922 V1 at a price of $22.57 Cdn ($15.50 US)and has one in stock. Parts manager at the second shop assures me there is no difference between the "M" and the "V" versions - apparently the "V" stands for Vintage.

So, does it pay to shop? Am I getting the right adapter? I expect to pick up the adapter tomorrow unless anyone here has words of warning!!

Thanks
Bob

Hey Bob,

I put one of those oil filter conversion adapters on my MF50 to accept a spin-on oil filter. Like your FE35, it too has the A3-152 Perkins Diesel. I don't recall the part number (and the tractor is some 20 miles from my house), but it seemed like I paid about $40 US for it. I would lean toward the "M" version were it me as I have come to learn that a ton of parts for my tractor end in "M" and a digit or two after it.
