I just bought my first tractor two days ago got a MF 35 Diesel Deluxe 1963 model for $2000 was this a good price? Sheet metal is in great shape no rust or dents it does need a paint job. Over all tractor is in good condition only leak I found is on the main seal and its not bad. I do have one question the lift works fine but when you push in the clutch the lift lets down let the clutch out it raises up is this normal? As long as the tractor is moving you can put the lift in any position and it does not move. Any info on this would help alot.

Yes, that is a very good price Shane. I have a 35 Deluxe gas, and we love it for small jobs. You will find that it will do most anything you need it to.

The hydraulic pump does stop running when the clutch is fully depressed, however the three point hitch should remain where one has put it regardless. You must have an internal leak. It may be the rings on the lift cylinder, o rings on the stand pipe, pump control valve or the high pressure relief valve. Any one of these would allow the three point to settle. It is normal for the hitch to settle after the tractor is shut down for a while, but a good system will hold for maybe 1/2 hour yet.

It most likely is a two stage clutch, if you push the clutch part way down it disengages the drive train push it down the rest of the way and it disengages the pto and hydraulics. You should notice a lot more resistance when you get to the second stage.
