Can anyone shed some more light on the following Mod. and Ser. numbers? 44 GIRF 70674 I don't know what the extra letters mean. 1956?
44 GR 26722
MFB 124G 8961
44 GR 5146 Has a wide front end, 1953?
WD 290 120 PA

I also have one that I can't find the Mod. # but the Ser# is 270846. It is a 44-6 I think.(has 6 cyl.)
I bought these tractors from my late Uncle's estate and I am just trying to get a little more info. Thanks, Rod

The following info is what the letters stand for on Massey-Harris tractors.A-High altitude engine,B-Butane[LP] fuel,D-Diesel fuel,F-Foot clutch,G-Gasoline,H-Hand clutch,K-Low-grade fuel,O-Orchard,R-Row-Crop,S-Standard,V-Vineyard,W-Wide axle.If you have a 1 or 5 after the G on Massey Tractors from 1952-1957 the #1 means regular altitude and the #5 means Hi-altituude.

The F should be a foot clutch

The G almost always indicates a gas engine. The R should mean that it is a Row-Crop but the rest leaves me a bit stumped. Check the Massey Harris Homepage: >Link
There>Link is a lot of good information there.
