Guys, Not nearly as familiar with Masseys as I am some other brands, a buddy gave me a MH yesterday, it is missing the side panels that might have helped to ID it from the decals. In my limited Massey experience, it appears to be a 22, 20, or an 81, but there is no serial number tags visible, am hoping someone can ID it so I can get the proper manual. It has a 4 cyl Continental engine with a MS carb, it is a tricycle with 4.00x15 fronts, and 12.4x24 rears. It has PTO and what appears to be a PTO driven hydraulic pump under the seat with a foot pedal to operate it. One question that immediately pops up is that it has an old 12v battery in it, and it has a generator, so my assumption is that someone popped the wrong battery in? The other question relates to the rims; they are rotted, and are riveted to the wheel centers, do you have to purchase the whole enchilada...center and all, or do you drill the rivets out and rivet new rims on?
Thanks in advance, Masseys are not real populous here in Upstate, NY other than a few 33s and 44s, so I am not as up on them as I should be, looking forward to adding a new brand to the collection. Pete

Pete

There should be a Model and serial # stamped on the topside of the transmission housing. It should be on the left side by the pto lever. For example my 44 special is 44G1RF 53201. The 1st and 2nd digits are the model(44) 3rd digit is the fuel type (gas) 4th digit altitude (1) is regular
5th digit is chasis type (R is for row crop)
6th digit is clutch type (F foot clutch).
53201 is the serial #.

K would be low grade fuel kerosene or distilate
D diesel
S standard H hand clutch
5 high altitude
