MF 135 steering

While pulling a log with my 135, I bumped a tree with my right front wheel. I heard a distinct "pop", an at the same time my right front wheel wanted to go its own way. All the linkage is intact, so obviously something gave way in the steering gear box. The left wheel continues to steer properly.

Can anyone give me a sneak preview as to what is involved in getting to the gear box. Will it be necessary to remove the fuel tank?? Is there by chance a shear pin in the gear box, or is it more severe.

The tractor is well off the beaten path in the woods. Looks like the kind of job that I will have to undertake since mechanics will only go where they can ride in a shop truck.

Would appreciate any info that you could give me. I can get my 4-wheeler to the tractor.

Many Thanks, Vernon Holt

you did not mention if your 135 has pwr steering. If it does not you gan pull the sector gear out through the side, you may have broken a tooth

Had the same problem with a 130 Int., I was able to keep pulling and steer with brakes, of course my front end was lighter. I was using it to round up 30,000 BF of timber which had been blown down by a storm. That little tractor with a front counter weight worked like a mule. Good luck.
