MF 175 shut off and won't restart

My diesel 175 shut off a few weeks ago and won't restart. I pulled some fuel lines loose to see if it was pumping and although it seems a bit weak it does pump both to and from the injection pump. After I messed with it a while it started and went about 20 feet then died again and there it sits. I changed the fuel filters and bled the fuel system at the injectors. When I spin it over with the injector lines loosened it spits fuel out around them so it seems that the FI pump is working. I even tried spraying wd40 and then some carb cleaner in the intake as I turned it over but it still didn't fire. Any help would be appreciated.

maybe the neutral switch, where it must be in neutral to start. Switch may be bad.

I changed the filters on my MF50 diesel, bled the fuel system and it fired right-up. The other day, I was moving it from one place to another and went to pull out on a highway and it quit half way out in traffic! Would turn, but not crank. Towed it back to the garage and started bleeding the fuel system again. I had a little fuel and some bubbles. Soooo, I reprimed everything after the hand pump to the extent that I was getting a lot of fuel. I then cracked the injector fuel lines and started cranking the engine. It took more than a few cranks to get from what seemed like a weak stream of fuel, with a few air bubbles - to a very strong stream of fuel. Knock on wood, the engine started and has been running fine since.

Good luck,
Bill

Could be a fuel blockage. Check the mesh filter above the lift pump filter bowl and the conical mesh filter in the fuel tank above the fuel cock.
With all the other filters these are often overlooked.

could be air cleaner restricted or clogged , check injection timing..
