I'm trying to rebuild a 140 continental for a Mustang and I'm having trouble with the rear main seal. The new seal appears to be thicker than the old seal and when the Main cap is tourqed down the grank appears to be too tight. The seal that was removed was rubber or cork and the new seal is a graphited yarn. Any suggestions. Thanks Much

Oil the seal and pack it into the retainer. I use a large socket to roll them into place.
