When I purchased my gasoline powered MF65 it didnt have either of the gas tank heat shields. There are two: a valve cover shield and a manifold shield. Trying to locate them in salvage yards and talking to several mechanics, has led me to believe most people are running without one or the other or both. So before I go to the trouble and expense of buying or building both, I would like to find out what people are getting away with. Please let me know, the more responses the better.

Thank you,
Ken

My MF85 gas did not have any heat shields & I had trouble with the gas tank getting too hot in the summer. It was creating a lot of preassure in the tank which I feel is not very safe. I made up a shield for over the exhaust to help direct the heat away from the tank. The tank still gets warm but does not create pressure. Just my experience.

Thank you. That's exactly the kind of information I'm looking for. I was wondering about summer operating conditions.
