You can find most of the part for the engines in Value-bulit cat and NAPA. The jeep used the 226 cont. engine as well I think in the years 1965 and before. I have one and have gotten several part at my local parts store.

There were a total of 6,657 made. They were made in the row-crop and standard axle style. They were only built with a gas engine. There was one built in 1946 the remainder were built from 1947 to 1951.

44-6's are still around, just neglected by lack
of available parts, as most M-H's are. Some
people believe the only M-H is the 'cute' Pony.
Serious problem on parts, you chase down four leads to get a used, worn part, at the price of
gold. Buying parked tractors is a better strategy,
you get first choice, if hauled away immediately.
The 44-6 is one of the quietest engines, at close
idle, 100 feet, you question if it's running. I
regret the loss of this tractor company lineup.

I agree totally in regards to the engine in the 44-6. It's a shame that these old tractors are disappearing from the places they once were. It's up to collectors who are really devoted to try and keep as many of these complete and running as they can. The MH 44-6 is one of my favorite tractors(being raised on MH-MF and all).Too many times I see perfect examples of this tractor with a 350 Chevy dumped in. To me, this takes away the nostalgia surrounding the tractor. of course, money talks and pullers with money almost always beat out collectors with time on their hands. I hope for some miraculous reversal in this trend.
