Got a rough MH 101 Sr. and can't seem to find out what color red and yellow should be used. Would the yellow be the same as JD yellow and red the same as Farmall red? Where should I look for the answer??

Try:
Link

Also referenced from "John" on>Link

The>Link correct terminology is "Massey Straw Yellow".

There are several different paint companies that make a "match" for Massey Straw Yellow. Here are some paint code numbers. Some of these are the older synthol enamel paint numbers, which some paint companies don't make anymore. However, they should still be able to match the color code with their current type of paint.

Martin Senour (NAPA) MH Straw Yellow synthol enamel - 90T-4341 MH Straw Yellow acrylic enamel - 99L-4341

Sherwin Williams MH Straw Yellow synthol enamel - JK 4649 (They don't carry synthol enamel anymore, and I don't have their new number. However, recently I had the local Sherwin Williams match their old Massey Red synthol enamel JK 4036-R with their latest type paint, and it was an excellent match!)

Ditzler - MH Yellow - DQE 80533

Dupont - MH and MF Yellow Dulux Enamel 29440 (Since this lists both MH and MF, I worry that it might be closer to MF Industrial Yellow than MH Straw Yellow... but I have never used it, so I don't really know.)

I found out that the old style industrial JD (Safty Yellow) paint is a perfect match. Not the new mustard color. As far as the red. I used rangoon red that was used by Ford motor company in 1962. I painted my MH Pony and it came out great. If you are interested I can look for the paint codes and e-mail them to you. I still have them. It was Dupont acrylic enamel. Not sure if the paint codes are the same though. It has been about 4 years ago.

Basic Deere yellow is way off. Closest in brands
would be one of the two CAT yellows, to'straw yellow". Though any straw yellow seems a miss on
matching the yellow of available decals. Dupont
industrial paints cross Massey-Harris red with
mid-sixties Ford car red('66-67 Mustang?). The
M-F red had more orange, as I touched up the '66
Mustang door chips with it. Dupont's MHF yellow
must be combine rims, not straw yellow. Close
quick fix on M-H red, damaged by repair, might
well be spray can of candy apple red. Good on brake bolt adjustment, etc.(not hoods).

The yellow I was talking about is not the JD yellow found on there tractor wheels. Im talking about the industrial yellow found on there older construction equipment.

No they are not the same. As for where to look, the left column of the page you are looking at has paint codes.

Fred, the paint codes only cover "Massey Fergusson". Are some of those the same as my Massey Harris?

www.juniorscomputer.com/massey/index.shtml has an excellant breakdown of massey paint colors for martin-senour, the napa line of paint. As far as being the same as MF colors I'm not sure. Hope this helps make her shine again. Fred

Thanks guys for your help! Yesterday I asked this question to an old-time auto painter and he called PPG. They gave him these PPG paint codes: MH Red--70837, and MH Yellow--81217. I guess these numbers will cross with other brands of paint. I might start with trying the JD safety yellow that Jason suggested. Should these paint codes be included somehow in the YT "Paint Codes list?"
