Dave: Dean's Email address is: [email protected].
I recently ordered one of his compact disk with lots of repair and adjustment information on it. The disk is $20.00 and I have found several things I needed in the way of steering, clutch, lift adjustments. Great source of information from a terrific guy.

talk about a workhorse!!
I have a MF 65 w/ 4-cyl Continental and nothing can bog that engine down. I would like to have one in the diesel, but the Continental does start and warm up easier in cold weather
I would go for the Continental if one comes up, you won't regret it.
about the power steering, I don't know about the 135, but the manual steering in the 65 is pretty easy, provided you keep it greased up, I can steer with a knuckle buster and one hand (mine doesn't have a loader, though)

I believe as far as the gas engines go, MF first used the 4 cylinder Continental, then there was a period where they had a 3-cyl Perkins gas and then later switched back to Continental gas while retaining the Perkins for diesel models. Probably all around the Perkins diesel is best, but if I were wanting a gas version I would go with the Continental 4-cyl and not a Perkins gas. The Perkins gas engines consumed more fuel than the Continental and were not as smooth running.

I TOO HAVE A MF135 WITH THE 4cy GAS ENGINE. IT IS A GREAT TRACTOR.MINE IS THE DELUXE WITH THE MULTI-POWER(2SPEED TRANS)AND DIFERENTIAL LOCK AND PWR STEERING. GET THE PWR STEERING IF POSSIBLE, ESPECIALLY IF YOU WANT TO ADD A LOADER.ONE GREAT THING IS THAT ALOT OF PARTS ARE STILL AVAILABLE THRU THE DEALERS.IN MY AREA THEY DON'T LAST LONG WHEN FOR SALE.

I own a 135 gas with a continental engine and a kelly loader. I really like the tractor, and have put very little money into it. I run a 7 ft finishing mower behind it with no problem. The one problem I did have was lack of weight on my back tires (when using front loader), but I made a couple of weights and the problem was solved. I would personally rather have a gas engine, because they start easy in cold weather with no assistance. Also I am more familiar with gas engines and can fix more stuff myself. All in all I think the 135 is a great little tractor.

I have a '66 MF135 diesel.I like it better because it just seems to have more power under load and doesn't bog down like other gas tractors(not MF 135)that I have used.Fuel economy is much better on the diesel too. They are harder to start in cold weather unless you have a good battery and/or block heater.Diesels are not hard to maintain if serviced properly and will outlast the gas before rebuild. Visit Big Dean's web site for things to look for when buying.Do Not use starting fluid on diesel,it makes a mess of things!Good luck!

Hey Craig and Dave,
I have a 135 with the cont. gas engine as well. it is a great workhorse and will do alot more than one would think. I have moved round bales with mine, ran a 9' haybine, my double rake hitch, 5' mower, blade etc., One thing I wish it had would be power steering. I have a loader on my 4020 Deere but wouldn't mind haveing a smaller loader tractor for light work. The 135 is one of the most popular tractors ever made from what I have been told.
