I notice some 135s have red wheel centres and round T20/FE35 style mudguards whilst the more normal version has square mudguards and silver wheels. Does anyone know why there's this variation? For an example of the round/red style check out website of Steven Binks and look for 135 ploughing picture. He paints pictures of old tractors amongst other things.

Hi David
When the 100 series tractors came into production all had red wheel centres with silver rims, and all had flat top mudguards except the 135 which had round mudguards. After a short time, possibly first or second year of production, do not know exactly when but mabey someone can tell me, there was the change to silver wheels and rims, and the 135 got flat top mudguards same as the rest of the 100 series. Some of the early 135 tractors did come fitted with flat top mudguards if they also had the fibreglass cab fitted, but there were very few like this

I had a 1968 135 that I bought around 1970 and it had rounded fenders. This was in the U.S. Maybe they were different. Had a 35 ferguson also that was a much better tractor than the 135. Gave a lot less trouble.

We had a 135 bought new in 1964 or 65 I think, and it had red wheels and flat top fenders (no cab) so I think there must have been a sort of "transition" period. By the way.... weren't they a wonderful little tractor!

Thanks for info Hamish. I see the early scheme in a picture of the 100 series promotional line up in a book I have. One reason I was asking is that a friend has a 1965 135 which must be quite an early one and it has the square/silver arrangment. It was originally fitted with a Duncan weathercab. Also the mudguard grab handles are the early cast aluminium type. It has some sentimental value and I am hoping he'll sell me it sometime. I'm near Paisley (the one in Scotland) by the way.

Hi David, Can you tell me the serial no. and date of registration of your friends 135 and can you definately confirm it had silver wheels originaly as my dads 165 had red wheel centres and it was new in 1966.I am very interested in this colour changing and I have posted this type of query many times recently, both here and on FOFH with no success. Thanks in anticipation.
Ali.

Ali,

I'll get serial no but it may take a week or two. Your email doesn't work by the way so I'll just post it with your name.

David
