Got my 1955 t0-35 apart and am replacing a bad ring gear. Was wondering what to look for in the clutch disc wear. Is there a certain measurement to gage the wear on the primary disc? I've got some to go before I get to the rivets, but what is considered enough? Also any idea of replacement cost of the clutch disc? Thanks Ted

Ted;
I replaced the clutch on my '57 TO-35 a few years ago. Mine is a single clutch (dual clutch was also fitted on some 35s) and the cost was about $150 or so as I recall. This included the disk, pressure plate, throwout bearing & pilot bearing. I also had the flywheel turned ($35). The parts were obtained from a local MF dealer. Not much different than replacing the clutch in an older car. The trickiest part was aligning the input shaft with the pilot bearing during reassembly. Just take your time making the necessary (sometimes slight)alignments adjustments so that things go back together without excessive force. For the time and trouble it is to split the tractor, and for the relatively low cost in replacing the clutch assembly, and for the peace of mind derived form doing so- just do it! :-)
Good luck and have fun!
Roger

p.s. If mine was a dual-clutch, I might rethink the pros and cons since it appears to somewhat of a complicated process, judging from the pages in my manuals.
