Can anyone tell me what the toggle switch on the left side headlight is for. Looks like an orginal switch. The tractor is a 1956 Massey Harris Ferguson 50.

: Can anyone tell me what the toggle switch on the left side headlight is for. Looks like an orginal switch. The tractor is a 1956 Massey Harris Ferguson 50. Mine has a toggle switch there too. The owner's manual has an electric diagram
for the Gas model which shows it as a switch for
a work lamp. It also shows head lamps and
another work lamp that are are not switched.
I've got mine hooked up to turn on some aftermarket
rear saftey flashers.
Do you have much info of the MF50? All I have is
the owners manual and I'm curious to find out more
about it. Mine too is a 1956

Andrew, Thanks for the response you knew a whole lot more than we did on that switch. We just bought the tractor a few weeks ago and the rain has just now let up so we can start messing with it. We do not have any manuals, will be ordering some soon. We were under the impression it was a 43 HP but TNT here on the net said it was something different. What do you know about your HP?
Would you be interested in exchanging e-mail addresses and maybe we can be of help to each other in the future. We live just outside Oklahoma City. ([email protected]) Thanks Terri & Larry.

I don't know about the switch but the used tractor guide lists a 56 MH_5o as a 134 cubic inch 4 cylinder Continental engine. 6 forward 2 reverse transmission 3100 pounds with 31 / 36 H.P. Hope this helps.
