I have a MF35 with perkins that I reciently bought. The oil vent from the valve cover had slipped off and there was oil all over the engine. I also noticed that it was blowing some oil out the dip stick hole if I tried to pull it out while the engine was running. I now have it down to the engine and have cleaned it up. The breather pipe was plugged pretty good. It also sounded like it had a miss. My question for any experts out there is, should I go ahead and pull the head off and check the condition of the cylinders at this point?

I just finished rebuilding a MF-35 with the same symptoms. The piston skirt on #2 was fractured into many peices. The oil pump was picking up metal out of the oil pan and I started loosing oil pressure after awhile. The bottom of the oil pan has a round cover plate about six inches or so in diameter. The oil plan drain plug is there. You may want to drain the oil and remove this cover and inspect for metal in the oil. You may want to remove the cover and shine a lite to look up at the bottom of the pistons. Mine is an A3-152 Perkins 3 cylinder diesel. Runs like a champ now.

I had a 135 that was doing the same thing. I was scared it was bad-cracked ring or piston-but it was only a plugged vent. I hope you have the same luck I did.

If she's blowing oil out of the dipstick, you got blow by on the rings. Maybe even a cracked ring or two. Good luck

Blowing oil out the dipstick is for sure
